Equity in Practice/ Practique de l'équité
volume 24 numbers 3 and 4

This issue addresses several aspects of putting educational equity into practice. In "Like Alice through the Looking Glass: Accommodation in Academia", Vera Chouinard recounts her struggle for accommodation from her university's administration as a disabled academic, and provides an analysis of systemic discrimination within academia. Maryann Ayim assesses the effectiveness of egalitarian language policies in "Much Ventured, Little Gained: Inclusive Language Guidelines and Policies in Canadian Universities". Paula Bourne and Marnina Gonick, in "Where Are the Girls and Women: Pre-Service Education in Gender Equity" look at how well teachers are prepared for the classroom with regard to equity issues. David Leadbeater and Monica Neitzert offer an overview and critique of current practice in "Courses on 'Women and Economics' in University Departments of Economics in Canada: The failings of the Discipline". And Carole Ann Reed examines the impact of various employment equity programs in Canada. Book reviews, announcements of conferences, publications and resources are also part of this issue.
