John Scopes taken to court in the 'Monkey Trial' for teaching the theory of evolution

This year, in Dayton, Tennessee, a twenty-four-year old general science teacher and part-time football coach called John Scopes was accused with illegally teaching the theory of evolution and taken to court. This episode, which for many symbolized the clash of social and cultural values, and between science and religion, would be remember in history as the 'Monkey Trial'.
