Books for Review

The Centre for Diversity in Counselling and Psychotherapy at the Ontario Institute for Studies in Education is preparing to publish multiple book reviews on its website with the purpose of intersecting discourses concerning multicultural and diversity issues in psychology.

The Centre receives books, monographs, and special edition journals from publishers so that it could commission book reviews and then post these reviews on the Centre's website. The Centre accepts review copies of books that are concerned with multicultural and diversity counselling, cross-cultural psychology, psychotherapy and transcultural psychiatry, as well as other works that are concerned with diversity issues in mental health, especially issues regarding race, gender, sexual orientations, class and disability.

The Centre is seeking to add to its list of reviewers people who would be interested in writing book reviews of single books, as well as reviewing two or three books in a single review, to compare and contrast allied and competing discourses. We are looking for potential reviewers as well as for potential books to review (published in the past five years).

Requirements for Book Reviewers

  • A doctoral degree or a doctoral candidate
  • Previous published articles in the area of diversity or counselling psychology, and/or published book reviews
  • Submission of CV to the Book Reviews Editor

If you are interested in becoming a potential reviewer, or if you have suggestions for books you would like to the Centre to consider for review, please contact our Book Reviews Editor, at cdcbookreview@oise.utoronto.ca

The Centre gratefully acknowledges Sage Publications for providing review copies.
